This information is necessary for us to prepare a customized offer for you.

What is Crop Insurance?

Agricultural production is the world’s riskiest “open-air factory.” From the moment the farmer puts the seed into the soil until the harvest day, the crop is left to the mercy of nature. Sudden hail the size of walnuts, an unexpected frost that burns flowers in the spring, or a flood disaster at harvest time… A farmer’s year of labor, expense, and hope can vanish in minutes. Crop Insurance is a guarantee system carried out by TARSİM (Agricultural Insurance Pool), established under the Agricultural Insurance Law No. 5363, and provided with premium support by the state.

As Panacea Insurance, we consider protecting our farmers’ hard work a national duty. Every producer registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) can benefit from this insurance to be protected from the devastating economic effects of disasters and ensure the sustainability of production.

How Much of the Premium Does the State Pay?

The biggest advantage of this insurance is the high level of state support. Our farmers do not pay the full premium; the state acts as a patron:

  • General Support (50%): In all crop insurance policies, 50% of the calculated premium is covered by the state as a grant.
  • Frost Coverage Support (67%): For the “Frost” coverage, which is the biggest risk for fruit producers, state support increases up to 67%. This means the farmer only pays 1/3 of the premium.
  • Young Farmer Discount: An additional 5% premium discount is applied to farmers under the age of 40.
  • Woman Farmer Discount: Additional discounts are provided to female producers through positive discrimination.

Which Risks are Under Coverage?

In the TARSİM system, coverages are divided into “Package” and “Optional.” It is mandatory to take the main coverage, the “Hail Package,” and others can be added.

1. Standard Package (Hail Package)

The following risks are covered as standard for all crops:

  • Hail (Loss of Quantity and Quality)
  • Storm and Tornado
  • Fire
  • Landslide and Earthquake
  • Flood and Inundation
  • Vehicle Impact (Tractor accidents, etc.)

2. Optional Additional Coverages

Depending on the product and region, the following risks can be added to the policy:

  • Frost Risk: Frost damage during the flowering period in fruit, grape, and citrus orchards. (The most critical additional coverage).
  • Heat Damage: Reduction in yield due to extreme heat in citrus and grapes.
  • Wild Boar Damage: Damage caused by wild boars to field crops, vegetables, strawberries, and saplings.
  • Rain Risk: Quality deterioration caused by rain before harvest in cotton, cherries, and grapes.
  • Bird Damage: Birds eating the product in sunflower fields.

Are Other Assets on Your Farm Safe?

TARSİM protects not only the crops in the field but also all living assets on your farm. Depending on your production model, you should also review our other state-supported insurance products:

2025 TARSİM Innovations

TARSİM continues to stand by the farmer by expanding its scope every year. The advantages introduced for the 2025 production season are:

  • Yield Increase: State support for Village-Based Yield Insurance has been increased to 70%, and yield averages have been increased by 16%.

What Should You Do When Damage Occurs? (Very Important!)

When a disaster occurs, it is vital not to miss the deadlines. TARSİM notification periods are as follows:

  1. Frost Damages: Within at most 10 days from the occurrence of the risk.
  2. Hail, Storm, Flood etc. Damages: Within at most 15 days from the occurrence of the risk.
  3. How to Notify?: You can call your Panacea Insurance agency, use the TARSİM Mobile application, or call the ALO TARSİM (172) line.
